Dear Parents,

Today, I started on unit 15 where I taught them comparative adjectives and how to change singular nouns to plural nouns.

Comparative adjectives

E.g. short

1 person: John is short.

2 people: John is shorter than Max (clue: than).

3 or more people: John is the shortest among them (clue: the).

*Take note that for some comparative adjectives, they need to double the last letter of the adjective, for e.g. thin, thinner, thinnest or big, bigger, biggest.

*I also shared some comparative adjectives where they cannot add 'er' or 'est' but have to use 'more' or 'most', for e.g. beautiful, more beautiful, most beautiful.

*There are also some special ones where they are completely different. For e.g. 'good, better, best' or 'bad, worse, worst'.

However, we will concentrate more on 'er' and 'est'.

Change singular to plural nouns

E.g. add 's' to most nouns
(cat to cats, table to tables)

E.g. add 'es' to nouns ending with the letters 's', 'x', 'ch', 'sh'
(bus to buses, box to boxes, watch to watches, wish to wishes)

*For some nouns ending with 'y', they need to change 'y' to 'i' before adding the 'es'.
(butterfly to butterflies)

E.g. add 's' or 'es' to some nouns ending with 'o'
(photo to photos, mango to mangoes)

E.g. some nouns are the same for both singular and plural.
(sheep to sheep, deer to deer)
