Re: English (3rd March)

Dear Parents,

Today, I thought them about how they can write good endings for their writings and we did an example on the cruel boys. You can refer to the Write Right booklet Handout 3 for the examples.

Basically, a good ending:

-ties all the parts of the story together
- resolves any conflicts in the story
-completes the telling of events
- satisfies the reader.

A story ending should include:

1) wrapping it up
2) using feelings
3) lessons learnt

Example from 'The Helpful Boys':

                 Ali and John tied up the plastic bags and helped Aunt Lee throw them away (wrapping it up). They beamed with joy when the ground became sparkling clean. Aunt Lee were grateful for the help the two boys had rendered (feelings). She thanked them profusely and praised them for being helpful (wrapping it up). Ali and John learnt that it was everyone's responsibility to help keep the environment clean (lesson learnt).

1) Do Write Right Pg 26 (writing the last paragraph for the story, "Late for School".
