Today, I continued with unit 9 open-ended comprehension. I have taught them more techniques this time. Other than underlining the question word and the verb to know what they need to find and the tense to use (e.g. why - asking for a reason, is - means use present tense when answering), I have introduced three things for them to check. They need to write the alphabets S, P and G at the side of each question.
'S' stands for spelling, 'P' stands for punctuation and 'G' stands for grammar, so they need to check that all the 3 things are written properly after they finished writing each answer. Basically, for spelling (S), they need to check that all the words are spelled correctly, for punctuation (P), they need to make sure commas (if needed), full stops and etc are there, for grammar (G), they need to check their tense, sentence structure and whether did they answer in complete sentences.
You can refer to the open-ended comprehension in unit 9 learning sheet for the techniques. Do try to use these techniques whenever you are doing open-ended comprehension with them at home so that they can then have a habit of using them every time.
They are going to have their first graded AMODE test next Friday (8/4). It will be a listening comprehension (LC) AMODE test.
That's why I also did a listening comprehension (LC) practice with them today. Please take note that today's paper is only a practice. It is in their file. This is going to be similar to their actual LC AMODE test next Friday (8/4). For next Friday's LC AMODE test, they need to revise learning sheets (LS) 7.5, 8.3, 8.5 and 9.7.
All their learning sheets are in the EL file. You can use them to revise but kindly put them back in order after that as they will need to bring back their EL file after their LC AMODE test.

1) Sign EL file content pg (numbers 11 to 14), unit 8 and 9 learning sheets and the LC AMODE practice paper. Bring back the file after your next Friday's LC AMODE test.
